Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want

I got to admit that I don't know much about The Smiths except for a few tracks. But this track, Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want, is one of the favorites. And the many covers out there are excellent in their own rights. Here are the few of the covers I have in my list, in no particular order. Please, please, please do enjoy them. Lyrics after the jump.

The Smiths: The original version.

Muse: Rockier version by the ultracools.

Clayhill: Pretty, emotional cover by the folk band. Off from a soundtrack, apparently.

Elefant: From the Sky High soundtrack.

She & Him: From another soundtrack, (500) Days of Summer. She = Summer = Zooey Deschanel.

The Autumns: Weep. Please.

Codes In The Clouds

Codes In The Clouds are an instrumental, post-rock (what does that ever mean?) band hailing from the United Kingdom. If you're familiar with Explosions in the Sky, or Mogwai or even Sigur Rós, then Codes In The Clouds should fit in nicely to your playlist.

The tracks below are from their debut album, Paper Canyon:

  1. Fractures
  2. Don't Go Awash In This Digital Landscape
  3. Distant Street Lights
  4. We Anchor In Hope
  5. You Are Not What You Think You Are
  6. The Distance Between us

Extra: Distant Street Lights (Alternate version)

Empire Records

Back then, I used to run a music blog. It was less than mediocre at best, but it was fun while it lasted. This will be my latest attempt to continue the thread. Nothing new except for the same old stuff; I post tracks that I like or am currently into or they're just simply on my playlist. This is not a request site ;)

To kick things off, I shall start with my treasured collection: the soundtrack to Empire Records, including all the tracks that appeared in the movie, but never made it to the soundtrack itself.

  1. Gin Blossoms - Til I Hear It From You
  2. The Cranberries - Liar
  3. Edwyn Collins - A Girl Like You
  4. The Martinis - Free
  5. Toad The Wet Sprocket - Crazy Life
  6. The Innocence Mission - Bright As Yellow
  7. Better Than Ezra - Circle Of Friends
  8. Ape Hangers - I Don't Want To Live Today
  9. Cracker - Whole Lotta Trouble
  10. The Meices - Ready, Steady, Go
  11. Drill - What You Are
  12. Lustre - Nice Overalls
  13. Please - Here It Comes Again
  14. Evan Dando - The Ballad Of El Goodo
  15. Coyote Shivers - Sugarhigh
  16. Cruel Sea - The Honeymoon Is Over
